Message Proposition H is the wrong priority for San Francisco. If Proposition H passes, the Board of Supervisors would have a blank check to issue revenue bonds to take over private utilities without a vote of the people. The initial target of Proposition H is PG&E. But the measure would allow the Board of Supervisors to issue bonds to take over other utilites, like phone and Internet service, without voter approval. A takeover of just PG&E would cost $4 billion. To pay back for these billions in bonds, San Francisco electric customers could expect to see their electric bills to increase by at least $400 a year for 30 years.
